Doug is president of the board of Arts Fulshear, Inc., and is President of DHK Development, Inc., the company he founded in 1991. DHK Development, Inc. is a boutique firm that manages undeveloped properties owned by a few select Houston families, provides real estate consulting services to various clients, and develops both residential communities and commercial projects for its own account. Doug has developed residential communities in metropolitan Houston, Atlanta, New Orleans and Mobile. Konopka was born in Erie, Pennsylvania and moved to Houston after graduation from Carnegie Mellon University in 1978. His degree is in civil engineering. He has been married to April since 1985, and they have lived in their home in the Houston Museum District since they were married. Doug is former Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Strake Jesuit. He is past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Annunciation Orthodox School and a former advisory board member of the Houston Chapter of the Nature Conservancy. He served as an advisory member on the Fulshear Planning Commission, and currently serves as a board member for Forever Fulshear.
